For many years The Huddersfield Canal Society has been running an annual Photographic Competition and 2010 is no exception.
The HCS magazine Pennine Link editor and competition promoter, Alwyn Ogborn, invites entries from all walks of life and the central theme is navigable waterways.
There are two categories. Category A is for pictures of the Huddersfield Narrow Canal specifically and Category B is for pictures of other waterways, be that canals or rivers, even tidal rivers.
Entry is free to all and two prizes will be awarded in each category. The first prize will be a cheque for £30 with a second prize of £15. In addition to these prizes there is an overall winner prize, i.e. the picture judged to be the best of all the prints submitted, of £50.
The Rules
The competition is open to everyone, members and non-members alike.
Enter prints only, B&W or colour, sized between 6x4 to 8x6 maximum.
Entrants agree their pictures may be used by the society for promotional purposes.
Please ensure name and address are put on the back of each photo and the name of the category for which it is being entered.
Enclose a SAE if you wish the return of your entry.

Enjoy the waterways and don't forget to take your camera with you when you visit them. Avoid the annoying "just look at that scenery and I forgot my camera" moment.
