Volunteer members of the Huddersfield Canal Society operate two public trip boats:
Still Waters
Still Waters is based at Portland Basin Museum in Ashton-under-Lyne. It operates public trips of around 40 minutes duration on Sundays and some Bank Holidays between approximately April and October. Please phone Barry on 07966 212902 to confirm that the boat will be running.
In addition to these public trips, Still Waters carries up to 47 passengers and can be chartered by private groups for anything between an hour and a day. Please phone Barry on 07966 212902 for prices and to make a booking.
Still Waters is fitted with a wheelchair lift. The boat is owned by Tameside Canalboat Trust and crewed by volunteers from Huddersfield Canal Society Boat Crew.
Marsden Shuttle
The Marsden Shuttle is based at Tunnel End, Marsden, and operates as a Water Taxi between Marsden Station and Standedge Tunnel entrance at Tunnel End. The trip is about 12 minutes long each way. It usually runs on Sundays and Bank Holidays between approximately April and October.
The boat carries up to 12 passengers and is owned by Huddersfield Canal Society and crewed by volunteers from Huddersfield Canal Society Boat Crew.
