Huddersfield Narrow Canal - A Towpath Guide
By Dr Bob Gough
Published by the Huddersfield Canal Society
It's been a labour of love but after many years, Huddersfield Canal Society Administrator, Dr Bob Gough has completed a new towpath guide to the Huddersfield Narrow Canal!
HCS first published a guide in 1981 and since the Narrow was re-opened to full navigation in 2001 a new version has been long overdue.
With a foreword by British Waterways Chief Executive Robin Evans, the new 90 page guide has over 500 full colour photographs and detailed maps covering the length of the Narrow. The financing of the guide has been subsidised by the Society as part of its aim to promote the canal for the enjoyment of all.

The guide is not just about walking! There are so many interesting things to see along the canal including Wildlife, Industrial Heritage and the results of the restoration programme. Many of these things are featured in the guide and enhance the experience of visiting the canal.
As it is pictorially based, the guide can be used in either direction. Whether you're walking to Huddersfield or Ashton, it is equally useful. Be you a serious rambler or looking for a gentle stroll with the family this guide is the perfect companion.
