The Huddersfield Narrow Canal runs between the industrial towns of Ashton-under-Lyne in the Metropolitan Borough of Tameside, Greater Manchester, and Huddersfield in the Metropolitan Borough of Kirklees, West Yorkshire. It is one of numerous canals in the North West of England managed on behalf of the Nation by British Waterways. At its centre, below the picturesque Saddleworth and Marsden Moors, lies the unique Standedge Tunnel, the longest, highest and deepest canal tunnel in the country.
